'Fwinter' continues and it certainly gave this Bigfork High School Class of 2020 senior and I a run for our money. So much so that when we had to cancel her first scheduled date for snow I squeezed her in with her bestie's fall portrait session to make sure I could get a few fall portraits of her before it was gone. I am excited to share some images I got of the two of them together on that shoot a little later (we had so much fun), but first I am thrilled to share all of Keira's fall images from her split session; one in Bigfork and the second in Glacier National Park.
For the first part of Keira's fall session we hung out in Bigfork for a duo shoot with her dear friend Bailey. I can't say enough how thankful I am to Bailey for letting Keira tag along. One, because I wasn't sure I could get Keira's fall session accomplished in Glacier with the crazy weather we had been having and two, because it was so much fun having the two of them together to hang out, laugh at one another, and to get some really fun shots of the two of them together. We went on a tour around Bigfork and everywhere we went the fall colors were so very stunning with Keira's gorgeous red hair.
For the second half of her session we had rescheduled for a new date to go into Glacier National Park. When the day came we thought it still may be a risk but we were both willing to give it a try and it was amazing. We started at the river where there was bright yellow shining from the larch tress and reflecting into the water and the overcast skies allowed us to go down to the the rocks along the shore line which looked perfect with the cobalt blue Keira was wearing. From there we headed into the park where we certainly battled some weather but nothing too terrible. And, because of the weather, I was able to capture her in a rain storm, skipping and dancing down the middle of a leaf colored, tree lined road, with an umbrella and the most perfect mustard yellow jumper for dancing in the rain. Those are some of my very favorites because it shows her carefree, fun personality so well. The storm was trying to prevent us from any mountain views, but I was determined to get the fresh now covered peaks in a few of her backgrounds so we chatted about music and made the trek up the road to find the perfect spot. We made it a ways up before the clouds broke up just enough to show off the fresh snow in the mountains so we decided a stop on the road would be perfect. The bright yellow stripes and blacktop on the road glistened from the rain storm and the snowy, jagged peaks were amazing...so glad we didn't give up. On our way back down we made a couple of stops along the way, skirting around the rain storms, and ending our afternoon at the Apgar shores. The coloring of yellow leaves, with the green pine trees, combined with a very prevalent snow line on the mountains above, and a mist coming off the lake from the rain, was super cool and moody. We could not have had better timing to capture all those things combined right before it got too dark to keep shooting.
Keira...we pulled it off! I was getting really nervous that we would have full on winter for your fall session but we squeaked it in and I am so happy. You were stunning in Glacier and I had such an amazing time hanging out with you. Thank you for battling the rain...I love the umbrella images; your outfit could not have been more perfect for those. Thank you for being such a trooper as we battled the elements, you are amazing... see you soon!
